The HTES Tutoring Program gives interested adults an opportunity to support a student on a one-on-one basis, typically for one hour a week during the school year. What to expect Tutors make a semester long commitment to regularly scheduled, weekly, 50-minute sessions with one student at a time. Tutoring sessions may include working on foundational reading or math skills, completing homework, assisting with a long-term class assignment such as a book report or research project, or helping a student catch up, due to absence. Tutors develop a supporting mentor relationship with the student. Head of School and teachers are available to consult with Tutors regarding student progress and effectiveness of tutoring sessions.
How to I become a tutor Please contact Jim Kelly, through the school or church office, to begin the process and for more information. All tutors complete a screening process which includes a background check, fingerprinting, completion of the school’s child safety training course, and are interviewed by the Tutoring Coordinator and Head of School.
