The McKay Scholarship Program provides Florida students with special needs the opportunity to attend public schools and participating private schools. Students with disabilities include K-12 students who are documented as having an intellectual disability; a speech or language impairment; a hearing impairment, including deafness; a visual impairment, including blindness; a dual sensory impairment; an orthopedic impairment, another health impairment, an emotional or behavioral disability; a specific learning disability, including, but not limited to, dyslexia, dyscalculia, or developmental aphasia; a traumatic brain injury; a developmental delay; or autism spectrum disorder. Funding varies and is based on the individual needs of each student.

The Step-Up Scholarship Program is also known as the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship which allows families to choose between financial assistance toward private school tuition and fees, OR with transportation costs to attend a public school other than the one the student is assigned to attend. The Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program was created to assure that lower-income children have more learning options.
The Gardiner Scholarship Program is designed to provide the option for a parent to better meet the individual educational needs of his or her eligible child. The amount of a child’s Gardiner Scholarship is dependent on several different factors, including grade level, county of residence, and a student’s individual level of need.
