Get involved!

We’re so grateful for your involvement and support.

Your generosity – whether it’s your time and talent or a financial contribution – allows HTES students to thrive in this special learning environment and learn the skills necessary to lead a full and rich life.

We offer three ways to get involved in HTES.
  • HTES Tutoring program
  • Holy Trinity Charity Golf Tournament October 2021
  • Financial Contributions

HTES Tutoring Program

The HTES Tutoring Program gives interested adults an opportunity to support a student on a one-on-one basis, typically for one hour a week during the school year.

What is asked of a tutor?

We ask our tutors to:
  • Tutor on a weekly basis during the school year, at an appointed time, with a single student.
  • Assist with such tasks as reading and/or math, homework, class assignments and helping students catch up, due to missed days.
  • Develop an appropriate social connection with the student.
  • Stay in close contact with the school’s Headmaster and the student’s teachers, to provide feedback concerning academic advancement and continuous improvement.

How does a tutor work with students with learning differences?

When 6th grade students arrive at Holy Trinity Episcopal School, most are one to two years below their grade level in reading and math. The goal is to have students improve their grade levels in math and reading. The WRAT (Wide Range Achievement Test) Testing program is given to students to track their progress.

How many student(s) do tutors assist?

Most tutors work with one student although you may choose to work with more than one student. The
school Headmaster will assess the need.

How much time, per week, is asked?

The school year is 24 weeks (August to May). Tutors are asked to spend one class period (50
minutes) per week for 15 to 17 weeks with their student. The school understands that tutors
may have vacations planned during those weeks and that is understandable.

What kind of technology, computer skills and internet are needed?

  • We will provide training materials for both math and reading.
  • Basic understanding of Google Documents

Tutor or Mentor?

Tutors at Holy Trinity may mentor and tutor concurrently. However, some in the tutor program
may choose to mentor, exclusively. In addition to the tutor’s academic role, mentoring involves
developing the student’s life skills, including building self-esteem, time management, critical
thinking, and appropriate social behavior. Training and materials are provided.

How do I become a tutor?

You begin by completing the volunteer tutor screening process which includes a background check,
fingerprinting, completing the school’s child safety training course, and being interviewed by the
school Headmaster. Please contact Jim Kelly, through the school or church office, to begin the process and for more information.

Holy Trinity Charity Golf Tournament

The next tournament is being scheduled in October 2021 at Harbor Hills Country Club in Lady Lake, Florida. Details will be released soon.

What are proceeds from our Golf Tournament needed for?

In order for our educational programs to be as effective as possible, we must maintain low student to teacher ratios and employ the best educators possible. All this takes money.  Even with financial support from our church and state funding programs, our school barely breaks even.

In addition, we want to help every student that needs us. Many of our students come from families that cannot afford the tuition and fees needed to cover our expenses.

The mission of our annual golf tournament is to raise funds for:
1.     Scholarships for students with financial need
2.     Expansion and development of new and current educational programs
3.     Improvement and expansion of our school facilities.

The proceeds of our Annual Golf Tournament go into a fund dedicated for these uses. It is our intent to utilize the proceeds from this dedicated fund to continually improve our educational programs while also being able to reach more children in our community that need specialized assistance and cannot currently obtain it elsewhere.
